THE  INSTRUCTOR

Branda Tan Guédet  has many years of experience working with students of all ages and skill levels. Her students actively participate in music activities and they excel in ​performance, auditions, and music exams.​

Born in Malaysia, Mrs. Guédet’s musical trainings began at age 3 through the Junior Music Program at the Yamaha School and she started piano lessons upon completion of the two-year program. Starting at age 7, she entered for the music exams under the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and completed all 8 levels of graded exams in piano.

In 1998, Branda began a Diploma in Music program at the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) with a major in Piano Performance and took the violin as her second instrument. While at MIA, Branda was the pianist for the school choir and performed in numerous concerts. She was also featured as soloist at the music department’s bi-annual concerts. ​
​​In 2001, Branda earned an Associate in Recital in Solo Piano through the Trinity International Examination Board under the Trinity College London. She was also awarded an Achievement Award by the Music Department at MIA and graduated with distinction.

​At the University of North Texas College of Music, Branda continued her piano study with the internationally renowned pianist Adam Wodnicki. She also expanded her music studies to include Music History and Literature. 

In December 2004, she graduated cum laude from UNT with a Bachelor of Music in Music History and Literature with a concentration in Piano. She was the recipient of numerous 
​​scholarships and awards, including the Multicultural Scholarstic Award and the Academic Achievement Award​.  She was also given the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Musicology honor in her final undergraduate year. 

Branda continued her graduate studies in the field of Musicology. She was awarded a teaching assistantship by the UNT department of Music History and assisted in several Music Appreciation courses. She has presented lectures on a variety of topics, including the fifth symphony of Beethoven, Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique, and Liszt’s early piano music. She completed the Master of Music degree at UNT in 2008 with a Master Thesis on Franz Liszt’s “Swiss” volume of Anneé de Pelèrinage.

In addition to teaching lessons at her home studio, Mrs. Guédet is also a faculty member of the Gray School of Music in Dallas, Texas. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Parker University, Dallas where she teaches Music Appreciation courses.  

Branda is a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) with local affiliation with the Richardson Music Teachers Association (RMTA).
